Road test time at the ICBC centre is 15 minutes of formalities plus the driving assessment. A road test booking administration fee of $40 (non-refundable) applies if the Academy books on your behalf.

Pre trip inspection means checking the whole vehicle before you start driving. You look at fluids belts hoses battery lights tires brakes and more. Restricted Class 4 uses a passenger car or van. Unrestricted needs a bigger vehicle like a small bus. The driver examiner watches you name and point out every part. Miss too many items and the road test ends right away.
Air brake is only needed if your test vehicle has air brakes like some unrestricted setups or larger passenger vans. Most restricted Class 4 tests use regular hydraulic brakes so no air brake required. If air brakes are present you must know the system or hold the air brake qualification. Always check your vehicle first.
Go to the website or call to book your road test. Choose a date after you pass the knowledge test. Slots get taken fast so book early. Bring your ID vehicle papers and payment on test day. You can change the date if you give enough notice.
Knowledge test covers road rules signs passenger safety and basic vehicle checks for taxis limos or small buses. Study the commercial driver guide. It is multiple choice and done in person at a driver licensing office. Pass it to get your learner's permit then start road practice.
You cannot take the full knowledge test online. You can take an online practice knowledge test with sample questions. The real knowledge test must be done at the office in person. Use the online practice to find your weak areas before the actual test.

Please note bring valid photo ID vehicle registration proof of insurance and a safe test-ready vehicle. Wear glasses if you need them. For unrestricted bring a vehicle with enough passenger seats. The vehicle must meet basic safety standards or the test will be cancelled.
Driver's licence gets an air brake qualification added after you pass the air brake knowledge test and show proper pre trip inspection on an air brake vehicle. For Class 4 it is optional unless your test vehicle requires it.
